SUICIDE PREVENTION / MENTAL HEALTH ADVOCACY AND INFORMATION American Foundation for Suicide Prevention: (www.afsp.org) A national, non-profit organization dedicated to understanding and preventing suicide through research, education and advocacy. Site includes links to help, treatment, support groups and numbers to call for you, family and friends.

NJ Mental Health Cares: 1-866-202- 4357 (www.njmentalhealthcares.org) New Jersey’s mental health information and referral service. The staff of mental health professionals will connect you to the information and services you need. 8am – 12 midnight helpline.

NAMI: National Alliance on Mental Illness (www.nami.org) NAMI is dedicated to improving the lives of individuals and families affected by mental illness. NAMI has been active as an advocacy organization for 30 years in the USA.

MHANJ: Mental Health Association in New Jersey: (www.mhanj.org) MHANJ strives for mental health for children and adults through advocacy, education, training and services.

EATING / BODY IMAGE ANAD: National Association of Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders 1-800-931-2237 (www.anad.org) ANAD provides information and referrals to treatment centers, local support groups and therapists in your area. NOT an emergency service, the telephone service is only available from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm. NEDA: National Eating Disorders Association (www.nationaleatingdisorders.org) Information on different types of eating disorders, peer support, and referrals to nearby support groups.

Overeaters Anonymous (https://oa.org) OA uses the 12-step model of Alcoholics Anonymous to help people manage their compulsive eating habits. The site can help you find one of the over 6,500 meetings to meet your needs.

RAPE / SEXUAL ASSAULT
Rainn.org (https://rainn.org) Rape, Abuse and Incest national network. National network for 24 hour help, chat, resources, and links for survivors and their loved ones.

ASPERGER’S / AUTISM SPECTRUM
​Wrong Planet (wrongplanet.net) This is a web community for individuals with Asperger’s Syndrome and other neurological differences. The site provides a discussion forum, an article section and blogging features. Many articles are written by those with Asperger’s / ASD with positive point of view of Asperger’s. The site is also for parents, families and professionals of those on the ASD spectrum. Aspen of NJ (aspennj.org) Asperger Autism Support Education Network of NJ.
